What are the standard measurements for Australian bed quilts?

Mattress measurements can vary depending on which store you purchase them from. As a result quilt sizes will vary slightly. If you want measurements for a quilt for your specific mattress I would recommend measuring the length, width and height of your mattress and making your quilt to that specific size. If you use the following formulas you will be able to work out the required finished size of your quilt.

Quilt length = Length of mattress + height of mattress
Quilt width = Width of mattress + 2 x height of mattress

For example, if your mattress is 190cm long, 92cm wide and 10cm high your finished quilt would be 200cm x 112cm.

Quilt length = 190cm + 10cm = 200cm
Quilt width = 92cm + 10cm + 10cm = 112cm

If you don’t have a mattress to measure you could use the following sizes as a guide. We have used 12cm (4.75″) as the mattress height to determine finished quilt measurements. This should allow enough overhang to compensate for most variations in mattress sizes. Please note, imperial measurements have been rounded to the nearest inch.
